If you are considering purchasing a pet, you should do your homework first. Try to find a reputable breeder, who has the mother and father on the premises. Ask for and contact three references of other people who have purchased pets from this person. Visit the breeder before buying a pet, and take note of the physical conditions of the premises and honesty of the seller's answers. Remember to think first and not lead with your emotions. There will be plenty of time for loving your pet after the important questions have been answered. And remember, NYS law states that you have 14 days to take your new pet to the veterinarian to be checked. If there is a problem, the breeder must either a) take the pet back and return your money or give you another pet, or b) refund the amount you spent to have the problem remedied.
